Mount Frere Community School was established by the late Pastor Boldwin Andile Mneno and his wife Nomfundiso Gloria Mneno in 2002. The school was born out of a God-given vision to offer quality education to the community of Mount Frere and surrounding areas. The English-medium school, with Christian ethos, was founded to impact the community through Academic Excellence, Character Building and Leadership Development.

In January 2002, the school was launched in Mount Frere. Since 2002, the school has grown in leaps and bounds. Currently, the school offers quality education from Grade R to Grade 12, with over 800 students and 50 dedicated staff members.

Under the leadership of the current principal, Mrs Makovera, Mount Frere Community School continues to maintain its position as one of the top schools in the region.
